Spend a full, creative day immersed in the ancient art of Indian block printing and produce something truly spectacular to take home. This intermediate-level workshop is perfect for those who have already discovered a love of block printing and are ready to work on a larger, more ambitious scale.
Working at the Flower Garden Log Cabin in Llanrhaeadr, you’ll be guided by Catherine Bridget through the techniques and planning involved in printing a full-size 100% white cotton tablecloth — a piece generous enough to display as a statement wall hanging if you prefer. Using Catherine’s collection of intricately hand-carved mahogany blocks, you’ll explore repeat pattern design, colour mixing, paint application, and the careful placement and registration that brings a large-scale piece together beautifully.
This is a hands-on, relaxed, and sociable day. You’ll have time to experiment, plan your composition, and print at your own pace, with Catherine on hand throughout for guidance and inspiration. There’s something deeply satisfying about working with traditional wooden blocks on a piece this size — watching a design grow across the fabric through the course of a day is a truly rewarding experience.
All materials are provided, including your tablecloth and our exciting new selection of vibrant fabric paints, specially developed for richer, higher quality prints on material. Tea, coffee, and biscuits are provided throughout the day — please bring your own lunch.
You’ll leave with your finished printed tablecloth, ready to grace your table or your wall, along with the confidence and skills to continue printing at home.
